Grace Educational Trust aims at providing children with basic educational benefits and helping them to get admissions at better educational societies. It also believes in teaching adaptive living skills for better social life and independent living.
Our History
Grace Educational Trust was founded in the year 2006 in a small village Ramnagar-Betim, Goa by Sister Francis Dass and co-founder Mrs. Neelima Pratab along with two trustees Ms. Ruthamma Adam Somaya and Mrs. Luna Raju Pongade. It is a Goa based trust which supports the unpriveleged chldren with basic education and providing them with safe environment regardless of their caste, religion, gender and economic background.
In and around the beginning of 2006, we started helping the people in Ramnagar-Betim, where the need to help women and children was at the highest, and we started work with a small team to provide nutrition to children who were malnourished. In 2007, we began to tutor 45 children, where children were taught at the foundation and later enrolled into government schools once found eligible. Self help groups for women were formed to continue the work and maintain a secure ground and balance in the work. This went on till 2007 until we had a strong team and GRACE EDUCATIONAL TRUST was found.
Through the trust we conduct pre- school projects reaching out to not only children but also women. Single mothers who are struggling to make ends meet, they are given help to enhance their skills or taught skills to earn a livelihood and survive on their own. Meetings sessions are arranged on health and hygiene to help everyone maintain good health. Several outreach programs are also organized for all the women from the surrounding areas.
There is a direct need to help the people in Chimbel – Indira Nagar – Goa. We began our work of out reach programs and simple door to door communication with single mothers and families. We started a tutorial program for merely 10 children. We began strict dialogues with parents and teachers from government schools for the enrollment of children and to educate the families.
Apart from this we also meet households in the evening wherein we counsel and educate them to form self help groups to sustain on their own. In totality we have 11years of experience in social work and administrative work running from a small organisation.
